I loved Sebastian Barry's latest book, but man, didn't really like any of these plays! The funny thing, is they got better and better as they went on. He only seperates his plays in acts and not scenes. AND. THE. MONOLOGUES. Oh boy, there are a lot
Boss Grady's Boys - life sucks and is like a dream. Hard to tell what was going on and I didn't care to know what was going on.
Prayers of Sherkin - better - and gifted the world the line about nice catholic bees. This was about how insular people can be and again, dreamy.
White Woman Street - made me actually gasp TWICE. Finally some more dramahhhhh. And the wil' wil' west. But largely male and meh.
The Only True History of Lizzie Finn - I liked this the best. I loved Lizzie Finn and her friend, Jelly Jane. Again, dreamy and ephemeral.
Now the most popular one - The Steward of Christendom - meh again. Not sure I 'got' this one, but didn't want to.
