Unlike other magazines, Cinema-X features contests with prizes really worth winning. To prevent any reader's complaint of not being reminded, March 31st is the absolute deadline for entering our win-a-dream-cometrue-day, with superstar Marlene Willoughby. One male and one female winner will be chosen. You'll find a full page of information about the contest and an entry blank in this issue. Think of it! An all-expenses-paid day on the town with a screen star so glamorous she was featured in an eleven page layout in the December 1980 issue of Penthouse magazine!
I want to remind myself of something — to thank the thousands of readers of Cinema-X magazine who have made it the best-selling, most often imitated publication featuring reviews of adult films. More than ten publishing houses are now making feeble attempts to imitate our format and film coverage. Among them are Swank, Stag, Porn Stars, High Society, Pub, Genesis, Elite, Partner, . . . the list goes on and on. You, the readers, have made and are keeping us #1 in the field — but equally gratifying to me, as both a magazine publisher and a film producer, is the fact that the adult film industry has risen to a stature to deserve the vast audience it has.
You have my personal assurance that within the covers of Cinema-X you will always find honestly critical and unbiased film reviews. We are in no producer's pocket. We rate films fair and square — with you as a viewer in mind.
Stars enjoy fan mail. They attempt to comply with any reasonable film fan's request. The direct link between the superstars and you is this magazine. Your letters, written to your favorite screen star in care of Cinema-X, are forwarded by us directly to their home addresses. As an expected courtesy, enclosure of a self-addressed stamped envelope will expedite any star's reply.
While the news our papers and TV screens brings us these days is not very good, it seldom hits as hard as our loss of that irreplaceable genius of the music world, Beatle star John Lennon. I 'grew up' with the Beatle's songs, and have what I'm sure is the most complete collection of their recordings. The senseless murder shocked the nation. Small consolation is the fact that his music will really keep John Lennon with us, forever.
Good news can still be read. Right now! Because of the fantastic support of you readers, I've been encouraged to develop another publishing venture. Within two months, you will find my name as publisher on a sophisticated new magazine for adult readers. The title to look for will be "Lipstick".
