Type 1 Diabetes, formerly referred to as Juvenile Diabetes, is a chronic condition that is diagnosed in children and young adults. Type 1 Diabetics are insulin dependent. Today, Type 1 Diabetes are able to monitor their own blood sugars and live active lives. But it was not always the case. Few Type 1 Diabetics have survived long enough to tell the story that the author tells here. He recounts how it was to be a very young Diabetic before the advent of the scientific advances that have greatly benefited those living with Type 1 Diabetes today.
