What Women Really Want in Bed
I thought this book had an interesting approach to the topic of sex. There is not a lot of scientific theory behind and where the surveys came from or how it was measured. However, I am sure that is not the point of reading this. All the science and theory in the world cannot tell you what someone wants when you can just ask them. The book is very easy read and I have to admit some of the responses just made me laugh. I can see how this book can help me approach couples who are facing infertility problems and perhaps other relationship problems. The one area I had to disagree or was disappointed in the area was the section on x-rated material (porno, magazines, and so on). The book took the approach of a no serious harm approach. I would have to disagree with this and I am sure I will run across couples who will have problems with this. The few comments that they did have that "did not like porn" was strictly I did not like answers instead of maybe beliefs or how the woman may feel. The one paragraph on pornographic addcition seemed a little odd. I thought the fantasy section was an interesting read. I wish the book would have focused a little more on what men see when they look at a women physically because I know that is often an area most women have areas in. I think this book will overall be a great tool in counseling with the right back up. I had a hard time understanding why this book was on my suggested reading list for psychology reading but as I finished it does make sense now. I still think perhaps a male psychologist added this one to the list though!
