What comes in 2's,3's, and 4's?

Where's the Math? This book helps children to think about how different things in the world around them have different parts that might occur in 2's, 3's, or 4's. Children can identify the ordinary things around them that might be different but may include the same number of parts (i.e. the dog and cat have four legs and so does the table or people have two of many body parts). Children can reflect upon same quantities being placed in groups. This book also provides foundational understanding for multiplication at a later point. In the very front and back of the book,2's,3's, and 4's are lined up along both two pages. The last page of the story asks children: "There are four corners on this book. Can you count them?"

Cultural Considerations: Shows mostly caucasian children, although one African-American child is shown.

Extended Activity: Guide children in identifying objects in room that come in 2's,3's and/or 4's or more groups (i.e. 2 headphones for one computer, six books for one cd player, 3 folders for one child,etc.)
