Turn into the wind Book

The first "letterpress edition" of this book was issued on February 9, 1982 which is the one year anniversary of Helen Schucman'spassing. It has a hard box sleeve, is bound in black cloth with gold lettering and the pages are like a fine stationery.

Helen Schucman is the scribe of A COURSE IN MIRACLES and this is a book of Helen's Poems.

Since Helen was a very private person and was ill at ease with the Coruse, and a bit embarrassed by her poetry, she did not want them published during her lifetime. She did not want the focus to be taken away from the Course in any way. The Foundation for Inner Peace therefore decided to publish these poems, after Helen's passing, as a tribute to Helen for all that she had given to the world.

The book is divided into three PARTS.

PART I ~ Early Poems
PART II ~ Personal Poems
PART III ~ Later Poems
PART IV ~ The Gifts of God

In the INTRODUCTION, written by the publishers, we learn that these poems were written during the transmission of A COURSE IN MIRACLES and continued when the Course was completed. Although there is a similarity in style, Helen considered herself the scribe of the Course but the 'inspired author' of these poems.

The poems in PART I were taken down while Helen was scribing the Course. PART II [Personal Poems] were taken down between December 1973 and February 1977 and PART III [Later Poems] were also taken down during the same period. The last section PART IV [The Gifts of God], is a blank verse poem dated 1978.

And one of my favorites is REQUIEM which was written for a friend of Helen's whose mother was near passing. .....

"Because I love you I would have you go.
Because I love Him I can scarecely weep.
Because he loves you glory goes with you,
And in that glory you but seem to sleep.

"He came in mercy. Let me give Him thanks
You stayed with us until you saw Him smile
And tell you it is finished. He will come
For me that way in just a little while."

Dearest Helen, how I wish I had known you while you traveled here a while. Thank you dear one for these Gifts of God!
