Toward Environmentally Sustainable Development in Sub-Saharan Africa : A World Bank Agenda Book

This books aims to define the World Bank's medium and long term agenda for improving its assistance to sub-Saharan African countries on their road toward environmentally sustainable development (ESD). It attempts to assess the environmental situation and long-term trends in Africa, to draw lessons from World Bank experience, and to sketch out new directions. There are three major sections: a) key environmental issues and the long term perspective; b) the World Bank's experience with integrating environment in development; and c) a proposed agenda to promote environmentally sustainable development.
