In this book, Dr Stephen Larsen, a student and friend of the late mythologist Joseph Campbell for more than 20 years, draws from his own far-ranging studies in the fields of mythology, psychology and literature, as well as his therapeutic practice, to show how traditional mythology continues to inform our modern consciousness with its age-old wisdom. Understanding the personal myths we encounter in our daily lives reveals not only who we are, but how we behave. Learning to recognize our relationship to our inner gods and goddesses, as well as to demons, monsters and "helping animals", may enable us to circumvent destructive patterns and reintegrate power and wonder into our lives.
