Through a collection of true stories, The Churkendoose Anthology highlights the pioneering Holistic Approach to NeuroDevelopment and Learning Efficiency (HANDLE), providing a new view of neurological dysfunction and its treatment. The HANDLE approach applies neuroscience to enhance human capability and offers hope to families and professionals struggling to meet the challenges of neurological dysfunctions such as Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism, Tourette's Syndrome, Dyslexia, Learning Disabilities, Brain Injury, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and others. Each story within The Churkendoose Anthology is a poignant illustration of struggle, perseverance, enlightenment, healing... and triumph. Together, they portray HANDLE's remarkable contribution to the world community by moving individuals from dysfunction to function, despair to fulfillment. The stories provide the heart of the book, and insights into HANDLE theory and perspectives are interwoven as postscripts by Judith Bluestone, Founder and Educational Director of The HANDLE Institute. Judith Bluestone has over 35 years of experience as an educator, learning disabilities specialist, neurodevelopmental/educational therapist, university adjunct faculty and lecturer. She has developed training programs for educational and neurorehabilitation facilities that service children and adults experiencing cognitive, motor and behavioral difficulties on five continents. Most recently, she was honored by Case Western Reserve University as the 2002 Distinguished Alumna.
