Rankin's book on writing is engaging and honest. Her belief in the power of editing and revision through working with a writing group comes through loud and clear. As a National Writing Project Teacher Consultant, I've had the opportunity to engage in writing response groups and fully believe that it is the best way to write. I'm glad to see her explain why working with a group when writing is so useful. I also appreciated her informal voice, as I felt she was sitting across from me in my living room discussing barriers to publication and encouraging me to break through them. Loved this book. When I am a professor, I will feature this as a recommended text for anybody wanting to write professionally.
