Children are more receptive to the mysteries of spiritual life than most adults; yet even believers often want to shield them from such things. What a shame! Life and this world are full of mystery and wonder. Hildegard saw visions inside her head from her infancy, but understandably she was afraid to tell anyone. In her case, keeping what she saw to herself resulted in terrible headaches, so much so that finally she had to speak up. When she told her loving parents what was happening, they helped her in a way appropriate for those times.
Hildegard was fortunate in being cared for by a good and wise sister named Jutta who taught her many things. This is a charming book for young girls -- and boys -- about growing up, loving God, mystical experience, music, self-discovery and so much more. It can be read to/with children from the very young on up and serve as a spring board for many fruitful discussions on Faith. Highly Recommended!
