Tapices Literarios: Stories for Building Language Skills and Cultural Awareness Book

This text is aimed at students on intermediate-to-advanced reading courses in Spanish, and provides a collection of stories by better and less-known authors. The text is accompanied by two audio-cassettes containing all of the stories, read by native Spanish speakers. The stories deal with topics ranging from racial prejudice to magical realism, and following each story a different literary device is highlighted, such as plot, tone, narrative voice, and irony. Post-reading activities check comprehension first, then higher order skills such as interpreting, generalizing and synthesizing.
