After the successful debut in the year 2000, Michael Erlhoff, Uta Brandes and Kbi Gantenbein again hosted the annual Design Summit, and in 2001 famous representatives of international design once more gladly answered the call to the Alpine village of St. Moritz. Under the auspices of the Raymond Loewy Foundation, acknowledged stylists and design theoreticians like Mario Bellini, Axel Thallemer, Britta Pukall or Erik Spiekermann - to name but a few - gathered together for an informal exchange of ideas, free of the usual conventions. Brendan Dawes, makes the ideal of digital design relevant to the design process... as he says'" why can't a computer be as easy to use as a pencil?""And he has a good point. "You pick it up, use it, put it away- no instructions needed. Everytime I approach design, I think of the flawless simplicity and stunning visual feedback of of the humble pencil." It's a fun book that reminds the reader how important creative seeing is. "Why comfort is the enemy of creativity," is a mantra, while his guiding philosophy since first getting into digital design in the early '90's is:"why does it have to be like that?"
