Purpose:It is important for all residents in long term care to stay as functional as possible. This book provides the basics on how to achieve this goal through a specific program. A facility just starting a restorative program will find this book beneficial.
Audience:Aimed at nurses, this book is written by a therapist to help set up the program. The role of therapy is discussed in how those in the two areas - restorative nursing and therapy -- can treat residents individually or as part of a team effort. Therapy can also identify appropriate residents and train/perform the competencies for the staff.
Features:The book reviews all the pertinent areas of restorative nursing as noted in the MDS. Each chapter is formatted in a similar fashion. It reviews how to identify residents who would benefit from the specific component of restorative nursing. Following that it identifies the corresponding QIs.
