Negima!? Neo, Volume 1
Since I like the original Negima series, I was interested in reading this spin-off. However, it is not as good as the original story.
The partner has to rely on the wizard to activate the one of three pactio cards, which is similar to the second anime series. The idea of random system is okay, but the partner should be able to activate the contract. After all, what prevents somebody from attacking the wizard while chanting the spell? Chachamaru attacks him a few times, but Eva allows him to activate the contract. Then again, anime/manga is not known for being completely logical and/or practical, the author could have at least had the enemies take advantage of that exploit. The random system of the pactio cards is still a good idea, but needs to be better.
While, it is not as good as the original series, I would most likely continue on with the series.
I recommend this series and book only to true Negima! fans.
