A brief introduction to some of the types of clothing worn around the world, past and present.
As part of the "Spyglass Books" social studies series, this book focuses on different clothing worn by different cultures around the world. From grass skirts to wool sweaters the clothing is as varied as the climates and materials found in different parts of the world. Also discussed is the idea of painting the body with mud or ink, depending on the occasion. The text is very basic and written with preschoolers and beginning readers in mind. Each page of information is accompanied by a full page, color photograph on the opposing page. A related activity is included at the end of the book. Also included is a glossary, a list of more books to read, and web site references to enhance further study.
