Coming up through the ranks, this book (and the second, Fundamentals) really helped deepen my understanding of techniques and concepts that I was being taught in the dojo. Especially important is the understanding of proper body mechanics and the kinetic chain. This is required reading for my students and a must read for all practitioners of hard style, linear karate.
