Long, long ago, when dinosaurs ruled the land, there lived a dino who was the worst of them all: Gorgonzola.

Not really large, not really scary, Gorgonzola was known near and far for his . . . D.O. Yes, dinosaur odor. From horn to toe, Gorgonzola was one serious stinker. That is, until a bold little birdie decides it’s high time to show this soap-challenged big boy just how to clean up his act.

Young readers will laugh, squeal, and wrinkle their noses as this very stinkysaurus learns to freshen up.

Children's Literature

Whoever knew a dinosaur would need good hygiene? Maybe not a lot of human readers did, but this book with a good lesson to be learned spells it out nicely. The featured character, Gorgonzola, blows away anyone near him with one horrific odor. After all, he has never had a bath or known about good hygiene since he was an orphaned egg. Luckily, a kind hearted bird tells him how badly he stinks and teaches him the proper way to brush his teeth and to bathe. He is given instructions to wash everything, including areas behind the ears, around the neck, and even around the tail. When he is finished and learns to do this everyday, he gains friends and has fun with everyone. A nice twist by the author comes at the book's end when she tells that Gorgonzola is the first dinosaur to be "ex-stink." This book is a must for teaching children about the necessity to maintain good hygiene. The humorous text and playfully funny illustrations are sure to make this a winner with young readers, and they will probably be quite willing to brush and bathe like Gorgonzola.
