Genetic takeover and the mineral origins of life Book

This is one of the most important books on the beginnings of the phenomenon we call life. Cairns-Smith may have created a good deal of controversy at the time this was published in 1982 but it was well worth it in retrospect.

It was introduced to me by the late Marcel Vogel, arguably one of the most productive scientists of the twentieth century. He and I were working on a couple of different projects concerning piezo minerals at the time.

It was during this period we discovered the relationship between the presence of Quartz in the crust of the Earth and our molecular cytoskeletal inductive resonance. A.G. Thirty-plus years later his ideas (not always cited as such) are coming to the forefront of Early Evolutionary Biology again. There was recently a special on PBS Nova pursuing this specific relationship between life and it's mineral origins.
