Five nice mice are sitting in the garden one night when Baba hears faint music in the distance. What can this wonderful sound be? They decide to go and find out, and they discover a fabulous frog concert. But mice aren't allowed in. So they return home and decide to form an orchestra of their own—no frogs allowed. They practice and practice, and finally put on a great show. When all the cheers die down, the mice are shocked to see an audience full of frogs! It turns out that you can't keep good music to yourself after all. Here is a funny and imaginative story, illustrated by remarkably cute art.

Children's Literature

In their home deep within the city, five small mice are fascinated by the music they hear. They follow the sound to the park. There, a sign says that the concert is for frogs only. They sneak in to listen, but are told to leave. Still excited by the beautiful music, they decide to make their own instruments and music. They practice and prepare a concert. To their delight, they are a success. Among the mice in the audience they notice frogs. For the frogs, they play Over the Moon, the frog song they had really liked. Soon, all are singing together, and they continue to sing together on the next full moon. This sweet tale of cooperation is told with humor. The visual narrative begins on the initial endpapers in the mice s home. Mixed media create rich surfaces and distinct, appealing characters for the adventure that also includes details of the mice s home, landscapes, and crowd scenes of mice and frogs. The final endpapers show the mice and frogs intermingled in satisfied exhaustion, while the inventive illustrations invite readers to go back again. Reviewer: Ken Marantz and Sylvia Marantz
