The story of Danton tells us, once again, that story repeats itself over and over again! The heroes of the French Revolution ended up in the scaffolds, the same way the heroes of the Red Revolution in Russia, 125 years later, ended up being killed by Stalin.

Danton played on two fronts, on one hand he helped the revolutionaries and on the other helped Louis XVI and his monarchy. This man with "no price" received money "under the table", let alone from the Duke of Orleans, the King’s cousin, but for posterity the venal man disappears behind the politician. To the French, Danton is a hero. Robespierre does not. From Danton they only remember the great speaker, who knew how to galvanize the soldiers of 1792, who sent them to war, said to them: Audacity, always audacity, even more audacity ... " They remember the legislator who laid the foundations of numerous institutions, the astute diplomat and chief of the Indulgent, forgetting his intrigues, the dubious friends, the September massacres ...
Of the second, Robespierre, they only remember the Period of Terror that afflicted France. They forget the talent politician and the man who was incorruptible.
