Econospinning
I am SO glad I read this book.
It is NOT very well-written so I had to really struggle, especially in the beginning, to figure out what he was trying to tell me. Basically, he tells you what you should and shouldn't take from economic reports like "Unemployment fell 3% this month". Long story short, you can't learn anything from monthly reports (but the reasons surprised me).
He spent a lot of time critiquing another economist against whom he seems to have some pretty strong feelings. It was little tiresome to feel drawn in to that battle, but I learned some interesting things from it.
Best of all, he points out logical problems in some of the famous arguments from Freakonomics. (Arguments that I had found convincing, mind you.) I always enjoy a good logical dissection and having read this book I feel more equipped to do some dissecting of my own.
