Not going to lie, I read this because this quarantine has fucked up my self-esteem big time and I needed confirmation that I wasn't going insane, that all this time alone cooped up at home with nothing but the internet and celebrities' faces staring at me from the tv for company was truly ruining my self-perception. Usually I spend a decent amount of time outside walking amongst mere mortals, which helps offset the unattainable beauty standards presented by the media, but, you know. Covid-19 happened. Turns out I was right, and this book sums up all the ways in which I suspected 2d images affect us very nicely. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to stare at my reflection in the mirror to try and convince myself that beauty is not the price I owe for existing.
