Digital Mammography: IWDM 2000 5th International Workshop Book

This collection of 95 papers from the June 2000 workshop surveys advances in the use of digital mammography for the early detection of breast cancer. The contributors address image acquisition, computer- aided detection, clinical aspects, image processing, quality control, and quantitative image analysis. Some of the topics are automated reconstruction of 3D calcifications, beam optimization, extracting background texture in images, mass detection by relative image intensity, the accuracy of digital mammography vs. screen-film mammography, contrast enhancement of mammographic images using homomorphic filtering in the wavelet domain, and prediction of object location in different mammographic views using geometrical models.
