This wide-ranging collection lives up to Nina Zivancevic's reputation as one of the foremost living poets of her native Yugoslavia. The culturally syncretistic nature of her experience and work addresses difficult issues and uncommon conditions. She offers a language and currency to negotiate the alienating chasm that has manifested itself in the postindustrial urban culture and that has resulted in the harboring of narrow, intolerant views. She brings to American poetry a European literary and linguistic sensibility that masks the fearlessness of her observations and assertions.
Author Biography: Nina Zivancevic is an essayist, art critic, and former apprentice to Allen Ginsberg. She is the author of Inside Out of Byzantium and a contributing editor for NY Arts magazine.
