JEREMY. :) ALEX. :( HEATHCLIFF?
Now that we're living in Hollywood, Eva thinks anything is possible - including casting the part of my boyfriend! As for the players: one's an actor (bad sign), one's a snobby rich kid (worse sign), and one doesn't even exist (stop sign). Guess who my sister picked?

Children's Literature

Sisters Jessica and Eva live in two totally different worlds. Jessica narrates this drama-filled story, but Eva plays the sister of the famous star of a TV show "Two Sisters." While not actually on the show, Jessica brings drama to it. Falling in love with a star character of the show is not exactly what the director has in mind for a girl who is just a bystander. In the midst of all this, their family moves to Beverly Hills to help Eva with her acting career. Jessica must change schools, change friends, and change lives to exist in the "big leagues" of the Hollywood Hills. This story shows how a person who lives in Hollywood but on the outside of the spotlight copes. Jessica and her family have to overcome all the drama that comes with living in the big part of town, such as the star-struck tourists and crazy fans who constantly show up. While the drama in the plot of the play keeps readers interested and wanting more, the suspense and drama keep them on their toes. In addition to the drama in the sisters' lives, Wilcox creates the story in a dramatic form, writing it as a TV manuscript. This makes the book even more compelling. The way she writes gives readers the story inside of the actual set of the TV show, as well as the thoughts that Jessica is having about her own life. The mixed emotions combined with the way the book goes back and forth between the TV show and the life of Jessica really makes this book appealing to young adult readers, but adults will appreciate the richness of these multiple perspectives as well. Having a narrator who is not the center of attention or the star of the TV show in Hollywood also makes it more down to earth for readers. This book showsthe love life, the drama, and the turmoil of a normal teen girl living in a "Hollywood" world. Reviewer: Leah Berry
