Rosie Sloan, a young mother recently separated from her husband, is faced with singlehandedly caring for her chronically ill two-year-old son, Jason, when he is diagnosed with asthma. Despite her diligent efforts, his condition only worsens. One morning a social worker appears at Rosie's door. Someone has filed a complaint against her, claiming she is an unfit mother. Rosie is desperate to clear her name, and devastated when she learns that the court has decided to remove Jason from her care, an act that promises to ruin the new life she has only just begun to rebuild. Jason's absence casts a shadow on every aspect of Rosie's life and fuels her frantic search for that faceless person so bent on destroying her and her son. And the ensuing turn of events, linked with Jason's deteriorating health, jeopardizes not only the possibility of Rosie's reconciliation with her husband but, much worse, the safe return of Jason to her - ever. As the accusations mount, so do Rosie's fears about who is really behind her child's suffering, and she must fight her way through a spiraling nightmare of allegations, false assumptions, and ill will to find the truth - and protect her son from increasing, terrifying danger.
