C Is for Centennial: A Colorado Alphabet

I'm not sure why I picked this book up other than I wanted to read something by a Colorado author for the library summer reading program. While it has some of the characteristics of a real "picture book" with only a few words for small children to read, pictures and the alphabet, it is more than that. On each page there are things about Colorado that older students and even adults would enjoy. Things like the reason for the colors in the state flag, that the largest silver nugget ever found was found in Aspen (not Leadville) and it was the size of a car, and the reason it is known as the Centennial State (in case you didn't know).

It made me realize there are places I still haven't seen in my state and I should go see them.
