Bloomsbury portraits Book

This volume is a rare glimpse inside the Bloomsbury group—the circle of artists and writers that dominated English cultural life in the early 20th century. Bloomsbury Portraits profiles the lives and careers of Vanessa Bell (1879-1961) and Duncan Grant (1885-1978), the two painters in the Bloomsbury group. Author Richard Shone examines the artists' work within the context of Bloomsbury and from the wider perspective of modern British art. Shone also discusses their interactions with the personalities of their time and place, from Virginia Woolf (Bell's sister) and Lytton Strachey to Picasso, Derain and Sickert.
