Modern Mexico is a complex blend of European and indigenous cultures, and traveling around the land by bicycle can't help but expose you the most intimate details of each and every community you come across. An excellent reason to travel, I hear you say! The authors of this unique guide cycled the length and breadth of Mexico on high-speed expressways and on dirt jungle tracks. They have biked every inch of road listed in the book in order to offer the most complete, accurate source available to cyclists venturing into Mexico. Covering the country from tip to toe, their travels started in the Yucatan, and went on through the Chiapas, Central Mexico and Baja California, ending in La Paz. Their route took in places like Merida, Canc·n, Cristobal, Oaxaca, Acapulco and San Felipe.

If you're even considering a cycling trip here, there is no better companion available than Bicycling Mexico. Starting at the planning stage, the book offers advice on traveling solo, duo or in a group, when to go, getting ready, what to bring (including how to get your two-wheeled friend across the border in one piece), equipment, riding decorum, maps, documents you will need, money, health concerns, emergencies, travel insurance and climate concerns. Then it's time to ride, ride, ride! Over 50 touring routes are described, each one giving the mileage, approximate duration, difficulty, best time for travel, attractions en route and the type of terrain covered. Maps show itineraries clearly. The authors give every detail you might need, warning of potential hazards you might encounter, as well sharing their experiences. Tips on conversing with small town residents and local customs are also given.
