Five young people discuss what makes them angry and the experiences they have while feeling anger.
Gr 1-4-Universal emotions experienced through the eyes and hearts of youngsters. Anger is defined and explored through a series of vignettes that consider how and why children become angry and how they act on it. How it feels to be the recipient of someone else's anger is also discussed. Jealousy is handled in a similar way. This book does make some good points but becomes tedious and repetitive. In both titles, most pages include a paragraph or two of text and cartoons and/or photos of ethnically diverse children. Speech balloons accompany the full-color illustrations. Unfortunately, the dialogue seems forced. While these books will provide fodder for thought and discussion, visually there's too much happening. Althea Braithwaite's Feeling Jealous and Feeling Angry (both Gareth Stevens, 1998) have briefer texts and are more visually pleasing.-Peg Glisson, Mendon Center Elementary School, Pittsford, NY Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.
