The Artist's Wife: Relections on Summers at the Cottage and Life in the Door County Arts Community 1979-1985 Book

When I was a young girl, my mother taught me the Colcha stitch and now I have read this history of the Colcha stitch. This book begins with the earliest history of New Mexico in 1598 when the first Spanish families came to settle New Mexico. I loved the historical information along with the story of this embroidery stitch. My mother learned her practice of this stitch from Estella Garcia's WPA Colcha class in Melrose, New Mexico, page 109. This book has beautiful photos and Art work along with the stories of people who valued and practiced this art . A delightful book for both embroiders and historians.
