Art of the Palate Book

I found this cookbook rather entertaining with all the personal anecdotes interspersed between the recipes. There were some yummy recipes that I would like to try like the Butterfinger Brownies. This book is not for those on a diet because their was quite a bit of processsed stuff like processed cheese spread used in the appetizer section and brownie mix in the dessert section. Also used a great deal were refrigerated biscuits and biscuit mix. Canned foods as well. One thing I did find a little frustrating was the fact that some recipes called for a box of this and a bag of that but no specific ounces were listed. An inexperienced cook would find it difficult to judge how much exactly to use. Another thing about some of the recipes is that they said to pour something into a pan but did not say what size pan to use so that also was left to our judgment. For an experienced cook this is not as daunting but a novice cook would be intimidated. All in all, I did enjoy reading this book and want to try some of the recipes but it could have been better if some of the items I mentioned were changed.
