P-38 Lightning vs Ki-61 Tony
By reviewing this book, I guess I am coming out of the closet as one who has a great interest in WWII and what led to the Allies being victorious. The P-38 was a unique aircraft that found its calling in the Pacific war. This book is a good historical resource for those interested in those turning points........and not much for those who lack a delight in detail. Unlike the book's cover, the profusely illustrated material is almost exclusively vintage black and white photos. A mere handful of color illustrations are vey helpful.

The matchup between the combatants of the title
Statistics and what they mean
The 1943-44 battle for New Guinea is the mircrocosm for all of the above and the Japanese Ki-61 was the P-38's key opponent. Good choices by the author. I may read another in the Osprey Duel series based on this experience
