Community Participation and Empowerment
Insightful, so far as the thoughts of academics in varied fields.
While I tended to side with Easterly due to his assessment of a type of democratic self determination that also is applicable for economic development.
The other contributors to the book seemed to take a more 'western' approach, focusing on the theoretical side, with Easterly and Collier the only ones really scrutinising the data, though I disagreed with some of Colliers assumptions and interpretations of the data, I have generally admired his work and agreed with his overall findings.
Overall, the book is a beneficial read but only for the understanding of the views that exist in the community concerned with democracy and development which creates a good platform for discussion.
