Great introduction to Non-Fiction for Young Readers

We just took "Jellyfish" out from our local lending library, and it has quickly moved into the ranks of the New Favorites. Although our son is an older toddler, he has enjoyed this book greatly. The text gives basic what-why-where-how-when information in short, easy sentences and the photography is great. Text call-outs on the photos also help him to see the basic parts of the jellyfish's body.

Sugar/Acid Balance: What will happen to you if you have to read this 5 days in a row?
This book withstands multiple readings, and after a week solid of reading it nightly, we're wiser and not stir-crazier. Since the book is non-fiction, there's no evidence that it will promote tooth decay.

Length, Type and Other Notes

20 pages. Chapter book. Publisher's note indicates that it is intended for "early readers", and in grammar schools this text would often be found in 1st and 2nd grade classrooms primarily. However, as the review above states, this text--like virtually any text--can be read and enjoyed with toddlers if the adult or skilled reader reads with enthusiasm and provides an interactive experience for the young reader.
