From the earliest days, man has observed different phenomena and attempted to explain why they occur. With the development of the scientific method, a systematic examination of the "why" was established. Thinkers and empirical experiments have extended this examination.
Mr. Lindsey's first book, The Woman and the Dragon: Apparitions of Mary, also published by Pelican, chronicles Mary and the Church's fight with Satan. In it, he interprets the meaning of chapters 12, 13, and 17 of the Book of Revelation, in which the Woman Clothed with the Sun battles the Great Red Dragon, and identifies the First Beast of Revelation 13 as "human power." Now, The Beast in Sheep's Clothing targets "human science" as the Second Beast, portrayed in the Book of Revelation as a ravenous beast disguised as a lamb.
Using a scientific approach, David Michael Lindsey questions many of the most popular theories and theorists of human science devoid of God. His topics range from the ancient Greeks to the modern scientists Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Charles Darwin, whose ideas about the creation and living of life on the planet continue to influence history and public policy. As a result, The Beast in Sheep's Clothing reestablishes Christianity at the center of the workings of the universe.
The first chapter focuses on man's futile search for wisdom and truth outside of God through man's formulation of various philosophies. Mr. Lindsey discusses schools of thought from the ancients up until existentialism and makes a special example of humanism, in which man replaces Christ in centrality and importance. Chapter two outlines the eight fallacies of Darwinism and explains the many shortcomings of evolution. In the third chapter, Mr. Lindsey takes aim at the pseudoscience of psychology and how the therapist's couch has replaced the priest's confessional in modern life, paying special attention to the atheistic ideas of Freud and Jung. The final chapter uses science's own procedures and the evidence of biblical archaeology, apparitions, and miracles as proof that Jesus is God.
David Michael Lindsey has degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He puts his scientific expertise to use investigating the theories and examining the facts discussed in his books. Currently a resident of Independence, Missouri, Mr. Lindsey regularly attends mass at St. Mary's Church.
