A German-American Schools USA educator traces the life, world travels, and legacy of a 19th century German who contributed to Hawaiian botany, agriculture, and public health. Dr. Willebrand served as physician to Hawaii's royalty, established botanical gardens and worldwide plant exchanges, and wrote Flora of the Hawaiian Islands (1888). The book includes a chronology, his letters to Kew Gardens' staff, and period photos, but no botanical art or index. Sale proceeds support the Bishop Museum.
