Everybody's had those days: the alarm clock doesn't go off. The shower runs cold. And to top it all off, the car won't start. At times like this, laughter and hope are the best defense against the pressures of modern life. In ALL STRESSED UP AND NO PLACE TO GO, columnist Lori Borgman offers up an arsenal of tension-busting laughs combined with an uplifting message about friendship, family, and faith.

In the newest book by the author of I Was a Better Mother Before I Had Kids, Borgman takes on these daily tensions with her trademark homespun humor.

In ALL STRESSED UP AND NO PLACE TO GO, Everywoman Lori reflects on the familiar tensions both trivial and more serious that readers will recognize in their own lives: anxiety about love handles, too much tummy, and corduroy pants that make a loud swishing sound when she walks teaching her son to drive a stick shift the hormonal roller coaster ride of life past forty the challenge of being married to a guy who claims women live longer than men because "man years" are tougher on the body and much more.

"Contrary to the popular bumper sticker, trees are not America's most renewable resource. Stress is. Stress is like crab-grass and middle-age spread. You may tame it for a season, but sooner or later it sneaks right back up on you."

Lori Borgman's humor column on parenting and family life is nationally distributed by Knight Ridder to newspapers in the United States and Canada. Her writing has been published in Woman's Day, Reader's Digest, and has been read aloud on Live with Regis and Kelly, Paul Harvey, and Dr. Laura. Borgman has worked as a photojournalist and a news editor. Lori's credentials include bags under her eyes and the ability to whip up dinner for five with a box of pasta, a half-stick of butter, and some broccoli with a nasty case of freezer burn. She is also the author of Pass the Faith, Please. She lives with her husband and family in Indianapolis, Indiana.
