Assessing the Human-Animal Bond: A Compendium of Actual Measures Book

I picked this book up on a whim while my girlfriend was poking around a new age store. It was on the half price shelf so I figured I might give it a go. I thought perhaps it might give me some interesting perspectives on my pets' thought processes or at least entertain me. What else are books for if not entertainment.

This book's author tells us that all animals are indeed psychic. They are not only able to speak with their own species through telepathic communication, but speak to other creatures as well. This ability is not only found in mammals.

Richard Webster begins with what he feels are the main three species of animals in the lives of humans; cats, dogs, and horses. He gives numerous examples of people and these animals communicating through telepathy. Many examples include his personal experiences. Webster also discusses many times in the past in which these animals have demonstrated uncanny mental abilities that are beyond the realm of human understanding.

After covering horses, Webster goes on to discuss other animal types outside of the main three. He also gives examples of ghost interactions with animals and the ghosts of animals.

He ends the book with numerous exercises in which a person can become more open to their intuitive nature and build a psychic bond with animals.

This book started out as a very fast and easy read for me. That is before I hit the wall that was the horses section. Having little experience with horses, I began to lose interest in this area. Perhaps if I had more experiences with horses, I might not have felt this area was difficult to get through.

I was a bit disappointed in some examples used by the author. I felt the Webster simply ran out of things to discuss and really reached for stories to fit in with his philosophies and reasoning. Some things just did not appear to be as conclisive as he states.

I have tried to make psychic connections with a few animals while reading this book. I am a bit of a skeptic, but I try to remain open minded. I have seen animals behave in strange manners before. Who hasn't? Anyway, nothing yet. Nothing that makes me scream that all animals are psychic and that I have spoken to them in a telepathic manner anyway. Maybe I'll try some more or perhaps I'll just call this book entertaining and move on being a guy who isn't psychic.
