Into the World of the Dead: Astonishing Adventures in the Underworld
Twenty-nine supernatural stories edited by William Mayne and claimed to be "hair-raising", but my hair, whats left of it, as reluctant to be raised. Some of the stories, including one by the editor, were rather anticlimactic, and my only reaction on reaching the end of some of them was "Huh?"
I thought maybe some of the stories were too subtle for me, and perhaps they were a bit above my head. But no, I found the book in the children's section of the library, so if I missed the point of some of the stories, then probably children who read it would miss the point too. But sometimes it's good to have some short stories t6o read before going to sleep, and these are OK for that. They won't keep you awake at night.
