Eric Anderson was born in a small farming community of Yuba City, California in 1941. Polio brought him down in 1957; however, he rebounded and has lived a fabulous life. He thanks God, family and friends that supported him during his trials of a young victim. "The Summer of 57" (Sabine, Salk, Mantle and Me) paints a picture of what transpired in a ward full of similar victims. His young world came crashing down when his secure tranquil life style of Yuba City evolved into an environment filled with paralysis, death, loneliness, physical therapy, and friendships that live forever. The book is filled with humor, sadness, and love. The book also is overflowing with data that depicts the battle against the polio virus by Dr. Jonas Salk, Dr. Albert Sabine, March of Dimes, and many other organizations. Eric was truly a baseball player and aficionado of the game. His knowledge of the game and Mickey Mantle is laced throughout the book. The demanding challenges placed on Eric at this young age prepared him to continue on the path of life without animosity or despair.
