Schizophrenia, the splintering of the human psyche, is a mental disorder that drives even the most loyal family members to sever all contact with the affected victim. Yet the disease, more than any other disease, improves with contact with family. If that becomes impossible, then compassionate staff—not empathetic but compassionate—should be trained and properly recompensed for assistance in easing the victim's existence.
