Life on the island is much like uni, except everything that happens is more personal. Hobart discovers he is afraid of being at the top of ladders, macho dickheads, and most of all, he is afraid of his own sexuality. In his immediate circle are Sam, a long legged, tall, sunny easy going nymphomaniac, and Nicholas, a small cranky black haired white skinned ex teacher's pet type, with a treacly gooey voice that turns Hobart's insides into a mess, and wrecks any chance he had of getting over his own sexuality issue. Sam is reeling Hobart in. Nicholas takes charge and claims Hobart. They begin a knocking around together sexually active friendship. Hobart is still afraid of what the world thinks of his sexuality, but he is surprised and happy that life had a lot more in it than where he began this adventure.
