Aimed at the general reader and salsa lover, this compilation has approximately 300 color and b&w photographs of musicians alongside their stories about the music, culture, and business. In chapters based on interviews with photographer Kent, musicians and those in the industry discuss the definition of salsa, its history, and three seminal concerts during the 1970s. The majority of chapters are devoted to specific musicians and their lives and careers, for example, Rubén Blades, Celia Cruz, Oscar D'León, Marc Anthony, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, and Gilberto Santa Rosa. The foreword is by musician and journalist Aurora Flores. A glossary is included. Annotation ©2005 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
