Loretta Krupinski depicts coastal towns 70 to 150 years ago in their heyday. Each beautifully rendered image captures Maine when fishing, quarrying, and the cargo trade were the backbone of Maine's economy. Looking Astern opens a window onto Maine's legacy left by the fisherman and shipbuilders that put the Pine Tree State on the map as one of the preeminent shipbuilding states in America. Krupinksi used historical photographs as her inspiration to portray a past way of life from Matinicus Island to Rockland to Boothbay to Bath.
