This is an important book for anyone interested in the history of Clinical Pastoral Education, particularly the small group process that takes place in CPE groups. Hemenway is very thorough in her historical presentation. She also provides her own group as a case study, looking at Bion, Winnicott, Freud and others. For anyone interested in becoming a CPE supervisor this book is a must read. It would also be helpful reading for those in advanced training.
