She wanted men and women to live as equals. She didn't live to see her dream come true, but her work paid off when women won the right to vote in 1920, fourteen years after her death. She was arrested for voting in the 1872 presidential election. She started a newspaper for women called the Revolution. She fought for equal rights for African American as well as for women.
