Greece that provides general background, cultural influences, climate, cities to visit, monetary system, local customs, food, accommodations, shopping, etc. A short who's who of famous people and some simple activities wrap up this clever, readable volume. The pages have a parchment appearance, and the colorful photographs of artifacts and maps are useful and eye appealing. Special topic boxes add related, sometimes amusing trivia to subject areas. Julie Ferris's Sightseers Ancient Greece (Kingfisher, 1999) offers much of the same information in a similar format.
