Asian American Studies Now: A Critical Reader
The "driven" life is not such a mystery to me anymore, but rather a (thumping heart-beat of a) need that must be fulfilled and the guts to see it met. This book gives me the chance to stand alongside driven women as they think and act upon about their circumstances and what matters most to them.
I've never felt driven, as the women in these books clearly are, yet I am inspired by how they all chose to let what was most important to them inform their emotional and intellectual responses to what it was they wanted to accomplish. What stuck me most is the balance they kept between emotional and intellectual responses to matters at hand. To me, that was the holy grail that offered them the capacity to keep placing one foot in front of the other along difficult paths.
I pick this book up every now and then, so I'm still reading it.
